Session 6 - The Need for a New Education System that Will Connect Us

Scientists, economists, psychologists, and sociologists tell us that we don't have a choice and we must unite. We know from experience in life itself that we have no alternative but to act as a single organism. Yet, my egoistic nature thinks otherwise. It thinks that I should first receive and provide for myself, satisfy my own wants, and not care for others, ... well, maybe also for others, but first, I must be content.

But we can see that it's not enough for me to be content. In a healthy and corrected family, I don't think like this—only for myself—I think of the entire family as one harmonious organism, and that if they are happy, so too, will I be happy. It's incorrect to think selfishly. The law of the great unified global force is compelling us to grow accustomed to thinking of everyone as one, to think of the entire world as one great, global human family.

How can this be done? How can we connect and unite? We do this by each one helping others, and by building together a new integral system for a new educational system—an integral educational system, which will connect us and show us, using various activities and lessons, that we actually have no other choice but to unite together.

It is up to us to develop a new, integral system of education, which will help us learn to use the will to receive only for the good of all, in accord with Nature.

Main Points

  • According to our nature, we want to receive only for ourselves.
  • In the framework of the healthy family, we think about all members of the family as one, and we focus on what is good for everyone, and what best benefits the entire family.

"Competition has been shown to be useful up to a certain point and no further, but cooperation, which is the thing we must strive for today, begins where competition leaves off."

Quotation from

"The notion that man must dominate nature emerges directly from the domination of man by man… But it was not until organic community relation … dissolved into market relationships that the planet itself was reduced to a resource for exploitation. This centuries-long tendency finds its most exacerbating development in modern capitalism. Owing to its inherently competitive nature, bourgeois society not only pits humans against each other, it also pits the mass of humanity against the natural world. Just as men are converted into commodities, so every aspect of nature is converted into a commodity, a resource to be manufactured and merchandised wantonly. … The plundering of the human spirit by the market place is paralleled by the plundering of the earth by capital."

Wikipedia Article

"The new understanding called "Epigenetics" reveals that the genes are actually controlled by the environment, or, the organism's perception of the environment."

Murray Bookchin, one of the pioneers of eco-anarchism (see section E), points out that "[t]he hierarchies, classes, propertied forms, and statist institutions that emerged with social domination were carried over conceptually into humanity's relationship with nature. Nature too became increasingly regarded as a mere resource, an object, a raw material to be exploited as ruthlessly as slaves on a latifundium." [Toward an Ecological Society p. 41]. In his view, without uprooting the psychology of domination, all attempts to stave off ecological catastrophe are likely to be mere palliatives and so doomed to failure.

Bookchin argues that "the conflict between humanity and nature is an extension of the conflict between human and human. Unless the ecology movement encompasses the problem of domination in all its aspects, it will contribute nothing toward eliminating the root causes of the ecological crisis of our time. If the ecology movement stops at mere reformism in pollution and conservation control - at mere 'environmentalism' - without dealing radically with the need for an expanded concept of revolution, it will merely serve as a safety value for the existing system of natural and human exploitation." [Ibid., p. 43

Italy's Anarchopedia

"To reach that new level of global ethics, we may need nothing less than a moral revolution in our thinking, a new moral norm, a global moral revolution, to fit the modern problems we are facing today and in the future. Such a moral revolution may even be needed for our own biological survival as a species."

For a Better Global Civilization Conference Presentation

" The strategies used to alleviate this crisis are rooted in the same ideology that created it in the first place. In the last analysis, the current global crisis is basically a psychospiritual crisis; it reflects the level of consciousness evolution of the human species. It is, therefore, hard to imagine that it could be resolved without a radical inner transformation of humanity on a large scale and its rise to a higher level of emotional maturity and spiritual awareness. Question 1: If you are wondering how you can make a great difference and cause an extensive change all over the world (since all of us depend on each other, we all need to change), the next few minutes are dedicated to you.

Investigators from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States found that in order to change the beliefs of an entire community, only ten percent of the members of the community need to be convinced of the truth of an idea or new fact.  From this turning point forward, the new idea will spread by way of the social networks of the community and there will be wide-scale changes in the behaviors of the members of the community.  Here is a link to the text  that describes the experiment. Please read about this discovery and record below how this information impacts you.

"Kony 2012" is a film about a psychopathic murderer who terrified the inhabitants of eastern Uganda. It was made with the goal of raising the consciousness of the world to the atrocious deeds of the murderer, and in the end of the matter, to capture him.  But more than this, "Kony" is an exceptional example of the immense power of the internet network to move people throughout the world to social change.  In less than a week, the film merited more than 80 million viewings!

If you have not yet seen the film, you are invited to view the film below.   If you have seen the film, we recommend that you look again at its first minute and a half. [link to video here, if needed.]

Question 2: According to the transcript text of the lesson, why must we develop a new system of education to correct our nature?
