Session 6 - The Need for a New Education System that Will Connect Us
Scientists, economists, psychologists, and sociologists tell us that we don't have a choice and we must unite. We know from experience in life itself that we have no alternative but to act as a single organism. Yet, my egoistic nature thinks otherwise. It thinks that I should first receive and provide for myself, satisfy my own wants, and not care for others, ... well, maybe also for others, but first, I must be content.
But we can see that it's not enough for me to be content. In a healthy and corrected family, I don't think like this—only for myself—I think of the entire family as one harmonious organism, and that if they are happy, so too, will I be happy. It's incorrect to think selfishly. The law of the great unified global force is compelling us to grow accustomed to thinking of everyone as one, to think of the entire world as one great, global human family.
How can this be done? How can we connect and unite? We do this by each one helping others, and by building together a new integral system for a new educational system—an integral educational system, which will connect us and show us, using various activities and lessons, that we actually have no other choice but to unite together.

It is up to us to develop a new, integral system of education, which will help us learn to use the will to receive only for the good of all, in accord with Nature.

Murray Bookchin, one of the pioneers of eco-anarchism (see section E), points out that "[t]he hierarchies, classes, propertied forms, and statist institutions that emerged with social domination were carried over conceptually into humanity's relationship with nature. Nature too became increasingly regarded as a mere resource, an object, a raw material to be exploited as ruthlessly as slaves on a latifundium." [Toward an Ecological Society p. 41]. In his view, without uprooting the psychology of domination, all attempts to stave off ecological catastrophe are likely to be mere palliatives and so doomed to failure.
Bookchin argues that "the conflict between humanity and nature is an extension of the conflict between human and human. Unless the ecology movement encompasses the problem of domination in all its aspects, it will contribute nothing toward eliminating the root causes of the ecological crisis of our time. If the ecology movement stops at mere reformism in pollution and conservation control - at mere 'environmentalism' - without dealing radically with the need for an expanded concept of revolution, it will merely serve as a safety value for the existing system of natural and human exploitation."
