Session 10 - The Solution for All Problems
If we can imagine and dream of an ideal society, it would certainly be one in which all keep the law of mutual guarantee and responsibility.
As we evolve from year to year, we see that for all our developments, we still find ourselves in ever deepening crises. The crises are not only in economics. We have been experiencing unresolved crises for decades, such as the problems of drug abuse, depression, the crisis in ecology, in education, the disintegration of the family unit, and practically everywhere we look.
We must finally understand that the solution to all these problems lies in establishing the right connections among us. Such connections will affect everything in our lives—from international relations through the relations within nations, and between people, and family members. Therefore, knowing the importance of the system of Nature that operates on building the right connections among us is mandatory, and it is what shows us that we need to establish good relations between us.
Establishing good relations doesn't mean that we merely sign treaties and contracts with each other, such as peace treaties, trade pacts, and so on. The agreement of mutual guarantee and responsibility is as serious as the bond of a marriage contract. When a couple marries, they make vows and sign an agreement. But this is something that is only on paper, and it may not be in their hearts. If after they begin to live together and discover after some time that they cannot sustain the relationship, then they usually have to distance from each other and break up. But in the mutual guarantee of all humanity, there is nowhere to run to, since we are all together here on one planet that we share, and so, there is no other outcome of "breaking up," other than crisis.
To avoid leading the world into a world war following another outbreak of the selfish ego, we must bring each person to see the integral connection among us as it truly is. Each of us must realize how crucial it is that we establish genuine, heartfelt connections among us. In Nature, everything is arranged beautifully. Everything is connected—all the natural resources, all parts of Nature, from the biggest galaxies to the tiniest particles, everything is connected in a single system. The more science advances, the more we discover this wondrous interconnectedness, the integrality and reciprocity that exist in Nature. We know now that if we damage one species, it will have thousands of other repercussions in the world that we share together, and on our lives.
We must understand that due to our lack of good relations between us, these repercussions are what is happening in human society, and today, very conspicuously so. Hence, our success depends only the importance we bring and act upon having the right connection among us, which is called "mutual guarantee." In this connection, each must feel that he or she depends on everyone, and everyone depends on everyone else. Accordingly, we must establish new social and international laws. The relations among spouses and kin, at work, and in public places must all be based on this rule of mutual reciprocity. Each person, even when alone, must act accordingly. We must all care for our "big family," the family of humanity, for we are all in one place, and we are all actually more connected than people who live together in the same apartment.
Such interdependence among people gives everyone the feeling of confidence and security, and also the sensation of prosperity and abundance. When a person feels that there are good people around him/her, who want the very best for your welfare, it is through this loving mutual guarantee for one another that the whole world becomes one family. In this way, people will no longer be afraid, ashamed, or fear anything. All will feel that, "The whole world is mine; I can take a deep breath and feel at home wherever I am—on the street, at home, anywhere in the world that I may be, I feel at home anywhere that I am."

"Learning--significant leaning--is a natural characteristic of the organism in its inherent tendency to maintain and enhance itself, to develop and utilize its potentialities. Such learning occurs when the subject matter is perceived as being releant to this basic motivating tendency. But change, particularly change in the self-organization, is threatening, and tends to be resisted. However, such learning is more likely to coour when external pressures or threat are at a minimum when the environment is accepting, understanding, and supportive. When threat to the self or self-concept is minimized, learning is promoted, since experiences can be accurately perceived in a differentiated manner and can be explored, analyzed, taken apart, and reintegrated in a meaningful manner."Article - Carl Rogers and Humanistic Education
The overall purpose of human communication is - or should be - reconciliation. It should ultimately serve to lower or remove the walls of misunderstanding which unduly separate us human beings, one from another. . ' Although we have developed the technology to make communication more efficient and to bring people closer together, we have failed to use it to build a true global community. Dr M. Scott Peck believes that if we are to prevent civilization destroying itself, we must urgently rebuild on all levels, local, national and international and that is the first step to spiritual survival. In this radical and challenging book he describes how the communities work, how group action can be developed on the principles of tolerance and love, and how we can start to transform world society into a true community.Book - The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace
"Humankind has reached a state of development in which old modes of thinking and behaving threaten to destroy our planet. This is becoming patently obvious to people of all political and religious persuasions. We are living through a global crisis in which only a profound revolution can save us from total self-destruction. Those of us who are dedicated to the preservation of life must play a prominent part in this revolution, which calls for a substantial change in our manner of thinking."
"We have to re-evaluate ourselves as the prime cause of the problems we are facing, and rediscover the profound value inherent in every single human being."Article from newparadigmjournal.com - "The Crisis of Values and Attitudes on The Planet"
